Treatment - What to Expect Visiting the Chiropractor
Asa new patient, you will
be welcomed by one of our receptionists and asked to complete forms and a case
history questionnaire, all of which will be treated in confidence.
Thereafter
the patient will meet their chiropractor who will discuss the examination
procedures, take a detailed case history and complete a thorough orthopaedic,
neurological and physical examination. Where required, X-ray films and other
laboratory tests will be carried out in order to make a comprehensive diagnosis.
Initially,
your visits will be closer together through the "initial" or
"intensive" phase of care and somewhat longer intervals during the
"correction" or "stabilisation" phase. Your
chiropractor will carry out progress checks at regular intervals to assess the
progress being made.
Chiropractic
adjustment is not painful, but you may be slightly uncomfortable. Occasionally
and in some instances you may feel a little stiff or sore later that day or the
day after. This is usually short lived and is due to the body's reaction and
early attempts to stabilise itself, this is a good sign.
If
you are unsure as to whether chiropractic treatment is appropriate, please feel
free to contact the clinic to arrange to speak with one of the chiropractors.
